DÉPENDANCE DU CHATEAU
FOR OUR GUESTS

For centuries our Château possessed a dépendance on the banks of the Dordogne, a few hundred yards down the hill. From there the barrels of wine were loaded onto riverboats and taken to the port of Bordeaux from where they were shipped to England.

The original building is still there (we can wave at it from the garden of the Château), but it lost its functionality with the rise of modern transport, and was sold in the early 19th century. But last year, in the dreamy fishing village of Asques, not even 5 minutes from the Château, a riverside dwelling came up for sale. An eighteenth century Maison de Maître, built from the white sandstone so typical of the traditional Bordeaux wineries. After careful restorations Château Gort has got, two hundred years later, again a sibling on the banks of the Dordogne.

LE P'TIT-DÉJEUNER

A good night’s sleep should be followed by a hearty breakfast. And indeed, every morning, Meriam will lovingly prepare you a generous breakfast straight from her own cuisine in the B&B.

The aromas of home-made bread radiate from the oven and the scent of freshly ground coffee entices you from your bed. In the shade of the ancient trees on the terrace on the river bank, you’ll enjoy fresh baguette, crispy croissants, Italian cappuccino, home made jam, honey from the castle bees and eggs from the castle chickens. Bon appétit!

Guided tour and wine tasting
au Château

A stay at the Château Gort B&B includes a tour of Château Gort & Gort, of course accompanied by an extensive tasting! This tasting can take place with a minimum of 4 registrations, up to a maximum of 10 people.

Please note that the tours and tasting only take place from Monday to Thursday at 4 PM.

The chateau cannot be visited at all during the harvest period.

ALMOST NEIGHBOURS: CHÂTEAU GORT & GORT AND THE B&B

Château Gort Bed & Breakfast is part of the Château but is located elsewhere. It’s a short five minute drive (from the castle wall you can spot it by the river) in the neighbouring village of Asques, immediately on the banks of the Dordogne.

Asques is 27 km from St. Emilion and 30 km from Bordeaux.

L'ÉQUIPE

Voilà, Klaas and Meriam, your host and hostess. Meriam receives the guests, serves your petit déjeuner, looks after the rooms and takes care of the guided tours at the Château.

Klaas makes sure you’ll get the loveliest wines at the tasting sessions and will tell you all about the production process and everything that’s involved with that. Santé for now!
